My misting disaster !!

That'll teach me.........

I had been reading Hannah's blog yesterday about her 'misting disaster' and thought to myself 'ha, I can do misting '..there's nothing to it really....plus, I already had several pages with sucessful misting so I decided to add some to a nearly complete layout that I had started at Scrap Angels last Saturday!!  BUT  WAIT - Oh No!!  ~ too bl**dy big-headed for my own good because disaster struck!!!.....

Not only did I make a complete hash of masking off the rik rak/cloud area ~ the first attempt was even worse than this!!! :(   when I tried to re-do it I wet the paper too much and it started to warp!!

Any way - thinking cap on - luckily I had a couple of clouds left so I bigged up my title a bit, added the clouds and .......Bob's your uncle!!! one better, but not good, finished page. It's been sat all night with my iron on top trying to flatten the paper so I think this is the best I'm going to get.

Lesson Learnt!!!!!!!!!

My latest addition!!

It's been a busy weekend scrapping wise - although I don't seem to have much to show for it!!

I managed 1 layout on Friday night (I must have been talking too much!!) but I was not very happy with it so I've tweeked it today and now I'm much happier.

Oh yes! and Kerry at ScrapAngels cooked us a fabulous aubergine curry. It was truly scrumptious  !!

Unfortunately I didn't win the challenge this month - Oh well I suppose I have to let the others have a chance!!!!! lol :)

My altered punched flowers

I thought I would just add a close-up and a few details about my inked metal flowers. I was pretty chuffed how they turned out   :D
I punched out the flowers from the pie cases you get little cakes in (or bought quiche, that sort of thing!!) - it's slightly thicker than cooking foil then I coloured them with Ranger Alcohol inks. This is the first time I've used these inks so I got quite excited about the results!!
I left some of them plain but added some more flowers punched from acetate to give a bit of dimension.
I now need more colours of ink...........

UKS weekly challenge - May wk 4

Here is my page for this week's challenge -

This is my friend sneaking a go on the kid's toys at the local nursery - she said to me "Is anyone looking - I've always wanted to have a go on one of these? "  :D

The challenge (set by the Crafty Magpies) asked for~
M -  Metal
A - Alphas
G - Got (a) sketch
P- punch, paint or pearls
I - Inspiration (from a quote) and
E - for Embellishments !!

My metal flowers - punched from foil pie cases , counted for the metal, punching and embellishments. I coloured them using alcohol inks (my first time using these - what fun !!!)  :D

I inked and double embossed the chipboard letters for the word 'PLAY'. And, I used their sketch and used a quote ~ " Life must be lived as play"  - PlatoI added a few other embellishments as well !!!!!! :D

Just a little something

................I created last night at our monthly Scrap Angels kit night  :)

There seems to be a bit of a food and drink thing going on !!! lol

With a close up of the books - it was a random selection exactly as they are on the bookshelf!!
There's chick-lit, crime thrillers and a couple of my Open University textbooks - oh yeah and a Pandora bracelet catalogue!!
Any budding phsychologists - go figure !!

And then this one is William on his annual skiing trip to Colorado.

I used some leaves from the garden as a mask and spritzed over them. On the acetate at the top I stamped using an Xmas tree stamp which I then decorated with glitter glue at random,  I also dabbed some green alcohol Ink on the reverse then after I atttached it with the eyelets I tucked in some fake leaves that I inked green to match the LO

I went a-cropping !!!

On Saturday I went to a Scrap Angels class and these are 2 of the pages I completed ...

First is James and Will when Will was just a few months old - weren't they cute then?

And 2nd is all 3 boys on the beach at Perranporth. James and Will were showing Nick how to fly a kite!! One of the few times when they weren't all fighting  !!

And then this is another of my black/white and yellow pages. I liked the one I did a couple of weeks ago and thought at the time I have a perfect photo for the same colour scheme.
Photo is Will (and friends) in the 2009 Lawrence Thanksgiving Day 5k run - in case you hadn't noticed ...dressed as bananas.
For the big clock I used my Tim Holtz mask and some kids' yellow and black acrylic paint

Creative scrappers sketch # 156

Here is a LO I created using the Creative Scrappers sketch # 156. I really liked this sketch and did not change very much

I love this photo of DS3 - don't get many nice ones these days - why do boys hate having their photos taken??

I used lots of odds and ends of PP. I also cut some cogs using Tim Holtz gears die - spritzed them with antique copper shimmer mist then heat embossed them. I misted the background paper with antique copper and teal.

UK Scrappers weekly challenge - May wk 3

This weeks LO for UK Scrappers

The challenge this week was top scrap something or someone special to you (my mum), use green in the LO (green rik-rak and green button) and only use 1 of every element - a stash diet Ali called it !! (I used 1 piece patterned paper, 1 doily which I spritzed then moved (i.e. I used it as a stencil), 1 die cut heart with 1 pearl, 1 flower, 1 button, 1 brad, 1 piece glittery wool and a small piece of embroidery thread oh yes and one embossed pink flourish!!)

I chose to scrap this photo as my mum sadly died in April 1992, aged only 53, but she will always be special to me :)

Miss you every day Mum XOXO

April Page ~ Album through the year

Here is my completed April page for the Album class we are doing at Scrap Angels -

The brown flap on the left opens up to reveal more pictures.

This month I have used pictures of Newquay's lovely beaches and stunning coastline.
Newquay gets such bad press sometimes for the behaviour of the "party" crowd it attracts - that the physical beauty of the area often gets overlooked!!

There's also a hidden journalling tag which details which beach is which - but I've forgotten to photograph it !!! so I'll add it later :)

Thank you everyone at CCW    XX

Here is this weeks LO

The theme this week is "birds". I chose to scrap some pictures I took when on an outing with the kids recently, of the flamingos at Paradise Park, Hayle
The PP is Prima,  I misted over a TH flourish mask and the little birdie in the top right I made myself!!

A Royal Wedding, a crop and a birthday!!

This is my scrapbook page I did for the Royal Wedding celebration on 29th April 2011 which also happened to be MY BIRTHDAY!! YAY!!
We had a lovely day scrapping, watching the wedding on a big screen and eating lots of cake. Kerry from Scrap Angels provided us with a super lunch and a wonderful location (her mum's house!!)

The papers I used were from Shabby Green door (Farmers Market collection) - I had trouble finding a paper that was suitable for the wedding but red/white or blue/white
and I found these cute little hearts at a florists stall in our local market :)

UK Scrappers weekly challenge

This week's challenge was, just that, quite a challenge ~ we were asked to demonstrate new techniques we had learned in the past 3 months (OK so that bit wasn't so bad as a lot of my stuff is that new - I just made a list of things I needed to add to the LO - die cutting, heat embossing, using a mask (on the paper not on my face!!!) but then we also had to include something secret and a recipe or instruction !!
So this is my result .......
and actually I'm quite pleased with how it turned out   :)

CCW Scrap Map Challenge - 7th May

This week's Creative Craft World Scrap Map Saturday challenge theme is "Family". I chose a picture of the 3 boys with their cousins (my brother's kids) taken one Christmas about 10 years ago :D
I have used Bo Bunny Mama Razzi paper again because I really love the colours. I inked and glossy accented the flowers because they were the wrong colour (and I sneaked a little ring-pull in there at the top :D  )The "S"s in the title are inked in silver then heat embossed.

Sunday 8 May 2011

Me at 4 !!

This picture was taken in Jersey (UK) in 1961. I don't remember this holiday and I'm not sure that I was enjoying this merry-go-round ride - I wasn't smiling in any of the photos!! I'm the one on the bike right in the centre of the photo (no idea who the other child is!!)
For this LO I used a sketch from PageMaps and actually didn't change it very much :)
I used an assortment of pp's ~ Crate paper mainly and the light blue mat is Fancy Pants )like father like son)
